Lovely little family TG this year. I made two dishes, younger kid made one dish, older kid made four dishes, and P made four too. It took us until today to eat more than one bite of our second dessert. Older requested a couple very midwestern dishes, and we obliged:)

It's fully summer! Time to cook more ambitiously!
Tonight, sushi at home; then, chicken tikka masala (the teen's favorite) & palak paneer at home, then Focaccia and Roasted Lima Beans. This is our last batch of salmon rolls & CA rolls at home.

Such a lovely Mother's day! My love baked us all an extraordinary Black Forest cake, and my kids laughed and laughed, and we got to hold the cutest baby and play with a lovely toddler, and wonderful seniors graduated, and the porch is open for summer writing & research time!

Tonight, we're trying out a brand-new recipe: baked shells w/ spinach, ricotta, and lemon zest, with house made sugo di pomodoro (w/ soffrito base). Into the oven it goes! After 25 minutes baking under foil, we'll bake more with mozzarella and parmesan on top.

P and the tween teamed up last night to make a delicious and adorable curry for us. We used Japanese golden curry, and all the kids ate it happily!

Curried tofu, onions, carrots, potatoes & apple chunks with a bear shaped rice in the center, and heart shaped carrots and tofu.

Trying to find joy. It's been a brutal month where I got sick, and then a cat did, and the other cat then caught it, or launched a hunger strike! In the midst of the governmental collapse! Both kitties are eating again, and we're all hoping for a better February!

It's quite chilly out, and both kitties are sleeping by my side as I read the amazing Odyssey! I *love* listening to the audiobook as I read the text. I never tire of Books 19, 21 - 24!

Poor Baby Kitty is still sick, and a lot worse! Off to the vet again. We see two, and I"m so done with the first one. I hope our other vet can help by actually examining her!

My amazing reading group is reading Hrosvita of Gandersheim, from a 17th edition produced by the Literary Society of Nurenburg, Sodalis Litteraria in Norinbergae. And the text is just so beautiful, in the style of a handwritten manuscript.

Younger kitty is sick. :(

Last week, the water went out for two days, then was non-potable for 4 more days. Monday, we had an earthquake (we don't live in earthquake country).

Our small domestic world is very, very distressed!

(6) this weekend, they were big enough, 9 weeks, to be ready for adoption. They have already been adopted! Molecule is a small black and white kitty with a small mustache marking on their nose. Dust Bunny is a small black and white kitty with white legs. We miss them, but they have a home!! #BigJoys

(5) My partner scooped up the baby kittens, and the rescuer brought them and their Mama to stay over the weekend to get Mama spayed. The kittens warmed up to people right away, and they went to a foster home to get socialized and grow bigger. #TinyJoys

(4) We set up some wet food in the trap, and Mama came and got shut in. Then we wandered the alley for an hour, playing a recording of "mama cat calling to her kittens." We'd given up hope, and decided to do a final search in the garage, with the recording. Molecule and Dust Bunny peeked out at us!

A cheerful little story of #TinyJoys.

We found two babiest baby kittens in our garage in October. We realized we'd need to rescue them, and TNR their Mama. When we set up a little bed for the blue-eyed babies (so 2-3 weeks old), their mama moved them. They stayed gone for two weeks. (1)

Bake, bake! I've been wanting to try a new recipe. It's just fine, in the "meh" sense.

I failed to limit my standing yesterday, and ended up w/ only 2 hours of upright time today. I'm soo not back to baseline after Covid round 2 in August. I'd been pacing aggressively, pushed the wrong thing, and now must rest.

But there are cookies my love baked for us!
