Marvel has something close with Marvels but it just doesn’t feel the same. Marvel has a weird relationship with their history. DC may reboot it in Crisis and the like but they celebrate it. Marvel just does nostalgia bait

Contrast this with someone like Roy Thomas who would have bludgeoned the reader with a wall of text, that reads like an encyclopedia entry, to hammer home why the losers were a big deal

Cooke’s ability to evoke emotion was rivaled by only a few. Just look at this scene with Sarge mourning Gunnar’s death. What’s impressive is that I never really read the Losers before when I read this issue for the first time. Yet Cooke gets to their core and makes this hit hard like a ton of bricks

After reading the Last Stand of the Losers in the Losers special, the Analog Heroes chapter hits a lot harder.
