Meant to post a few days ago, needed to gather my thoughts. Ace Combat X has set pieces that come closest to 3 and 5 for me. Destroying an iceberg, fighting the Gleipner, liberating Griswall, facing the Fenrirs, etc. I just wish it wasn't limited to the PSP. Still debating playing other routes.

I think I can confidently say 5 is my favorite from the PS2 era Ace Combats.
Of the 6 games I've played so far, I think all of them are worth playing for the gameplay novelty alone, but 3 and 5 are the ones that got me really excited and will stick in my memory for some time.

Ace Combat Zero done. Ngl, I expected this to be more dramatic based on the memes I've seen of Pixy, but it was overall pretty straightforward. The focus on dogfighting and named enemy squadrons is what stood out, but I can't say its that memorable. Still short and fun, maybe I'll replay sometime.

Ace Combat 5 done. This feels like the Ace Combat I see from all the memes. It has all the game improvements from 4, but also adds better mission diversity and new mechanics like squadron management. The story is charming in all the corny ways. This first game I feel is a complete package.

Pulled out my XB360 to test it. Disc reader is dead unfortunately, but I did also test my Gamecube and got hit by the nostalgia.
