Our response to the disappointing news that the long-awaited replacement for the Mallison Bridge on the Quay in Exeter has been cancelled.

The current arrangement (alley between Cricklepit Bridge and Commercial Rd) is unsafe and crowded. Up to the council now to provide a solution.

Our Chair and others attended the Exeter Highways Committee today to represent the views of the Campaign.

A big thanks to the Committee, who voted to keep Dryden Road safe and to explore making local streets even safer, and to all of you who contacted Councillors. It makes a huge difference.

Let's talk 20.

There is fantastic evidence coming out of Wales after 2 years of 20mph - reduced demand on the NHS, reduction in injuries, deaths, even reduced car insurance premiums now as fewer small vehicle damage claims are being made.

Huge thanks to Campaign supporters who did a 12hr count on Dryden Road 🌞🌧🎐counting >1500 people on foot, wheels.
We've noted some significant new info that DCC'll need to consider should they choose to think about different ways to keep Dryden Road safe for people on foot, wheels, and bike.

How providing safe routes for walking/wheeling/cycling/scooting can help reduce traffic.

Lessons here for those wanting to rip out a Dryden Rd, Exeter...

That's the message from our supporters who contributed their experiences, views and photos to an advisory delivered to Devon County Council and Exeter City Council councillors on making Barnfield Road and Southernhay a safer and more attractive place for people on foot, wheels, and bike.
August 27, 2025 at 6:54 PM
We think there is a big opportunity to make Southernhay a more attractive, people-friendly, vibrant, green space in the heart of the City.

Did you know the Exeter Cycling Campaign is run entirely by unpaid volunteers?
🧵
People who know Exeter could be lovelier & that changing it for the better will require some oomph to overcome the intertia that delivers motornormativity at every turn.

As @gsiexeter.bsky.social gathers key policymakers to discuss Global Tipping Points it is definitely time for #Exeter to remember that this machine 🚲fights #climatechange
