Martin Luther King Jr.’s life was cut short by gun violence over 50 years ago. His unyielding activism inspired a movement that changed the world, and taught us that it is always the right time to act.

New CDC data reveals that the number of people killed with guns each day in America has increased from 125 to 130. These aren't just numbers—they’re each someone’s loved one whose life was stolen by a preventable act of gun violence.

While the gun industry profits, our communities pay the price. State Sen. William C. Smith Jr. stopped by to tell us how Maryland is leading the nation in holding the gun industry accountable.

Mayors have a unique role to play in reducing gun violence in our cities. We’re excited to continue our work with @hobokenemily.bsky.social—a former @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteer and alum of our candidate training program, #DemandASeat.

A man was shot in the leg and wounded by an ICE agent last night in Minneapolis. This isn’t an isolated incident—it’s part of a dangerous pattern of gun violence and armed intimidation by federal agents that has wreaked havoc in communities across the country.

Arming teachers does nothing to protect our children from gun violence. Data show these reactive initiatives are ineffective at preventing school violence, can make students and staff feel less safe, and bring new risks into schools. Our kids deserve better. everytownresearch.org/report/unpac...

New York has some of the strongest gun violence prevention laws in the country, and they’re only getting stronger. @GovKathyHochul is cracking down on illegal 3D-printed guns and DIY machine guns by taking the fight straight to the source.

The level of violence Americans are forced to endure on a daily basis is NOT NORMAL. With lawmakers’ refusal to act, we have tragically become a nation of survivors of a preventable epidemic.

Let this serve as a reminder that Trump pardoned every single January 6 insurrectionist on his first day back in office—even those who attacked law enforcement and carried guns when they stormed the Capitol.
January 6, 2026 at 7:53 PM
America’s gun violence epidemic isn’t a coincidence—it’s the result of lax gun laws. No other nation accepts this level of violence in exchange for unfettered access to guns, so why should we?

New year, same devastating, uniquely American reality.

Lawmakers can stop this senseless violence, but too many choose not to. We’ll continue working to make our communities safer, because a future free from gun violence is possible—and it’s what we deserve.

Too many Americans have had their lives forever changed or stolen by stray bullets. Tonight on New Year’s Eve, say NO to celebratory gunfire—and pass it on.

2025 was another big year for Everytown Law’s work to hold the gun industry accountable.

This year, we continued investing in community-based violence intervention (CVI) strategies. This work—often led by gun violence survivors themselves—is critical to breaking cycles of violence and creating lasting safety.

Ghost guns are untraceable firearms bought and built without a background check that look, shoot, and kill like real guns. This year, the Supreme Court affirmed ghost guns will continue to be treated like the deadly weapons they are.

Keeping kids safe is something we all agree on. In celebration of 10 years of our @besmartforkids.bsky.social program, we’re launching a new series highlighting the dedicated volunteers, partner organizations, and gun violence survivors who do this life-saving work day in and day out.

This election cycle proved that—despite who’s in the White House—the majority of Americans are committed to voting for a future free from gun violence.
December 26, 2025 at 8:16 PM
In 2026, we’ll keep standing up to the gun lobby, advocating for stronger gun safety laws, and fighting for the safer schools and communities that all Americans deserve.
December 26, 2025 at 2:25 PM
This year, we continued making life-saving progress on gun safety at the state level. In 2026 and beyond, we will keep fighting—state by state and law by law—until every corner of America is free from the threat of gun violence.

Arming teachers does nothing to protect our children from gun violence. Data shows these reactive initiatives are ineffective, make students and staff feel less safe, and only bring new risks into schools.

After a shooting in 1996, Australia enacted sweeping gun safety legislation and experienced no public mass shootings for two decades and a significant decrease in firearm deaths. Now, Australian lawmakers are acting again to further protect people from gun violence after this weekend’s shooting.

Trump has done nothing but dismantle the progress we’ve made on gun safety since taking office. He continues to decry rising crime while doing everything in his power to make us less safe.

Thank you, @chrismurphyct.bsky.social, for telling it like it is.

There have been at least 159 shootings at schools in the US in 2025—resulting in 53 deaths and 148 injuries nationally. America’s epidemic of school shootings is a policy choice made by lawmakers who would rather cower to the gun lobby than support gun safety measures that are proven to save lives.
December 16, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Only in America are young people forced to endure multiple school shootings. This level of violence should be unfathomable, but for students like Mia, it’s a nightmarish reality.

Trump: “All we can do right now is pray for the victims.”

Make no mistake: Lawmakers can take action now to stop this carnage and trauma. They are choosing not to—yet again.
