Freelance Cartographer at www.eventmaps.co.uk and trustee/council for The BCS @bcsmaps.bsky.social
So pleased to see this IRL and already out there supporting cyclists across Colchester! It was great to team up with Colchester City Council to develop the map, as well as bespoke school editions.
Thanks to Rachael Partis and Dennis Maps LTD for their services pulling it all together.

Event Maps Latest: a trail map for a nature area to enhance the wayfinding experience and encourage visitors to explore the recent improvements.

Great data from the client allowed me to style up the various land coverage to invoke a more natural feel to the map and create some bespoke iconography.

I’ve often been the solo cartographer on projects and have wished I could duplicate myself to get thru the tasks in front of me… but I managed so far without a clone, so I guess I’m OK!

However I now have this blue print for when the technology allows - she might need a larger screen though 🖥️ 🤣

Very interesting map that shows closed services as a way to encourage readers to protest against the changes.
We’re familiar with using closed sections for Wayfinding in complex pedestrian areas, but I haven’t seen it employed across such extensive routes before. #design #protest #voices #community

Just rewatched Matilda the Musical and spotted the map!
See left inside the Mobile Library when Matilda rushes out. It was acquired on pinboards from a reuse site - from the Studios!!
Amazing to think of all the art created for film and TV that may only get 0.1s on screen

A few exciting updates…

🪪 My new business cards have arrived ❤️

🗺️ I’m working with a great team in Canada and love seeing my maps at workshops!

🧶 We got the Guinness world record for our Postbox Toppers (I made the map too!) which made over £30k for charity.

Not a bad start to the year 🥰

Such a great installation! Definitely needs to be seen in person to get the 3D effect. Go before 15th Feb to @stalbanscathedral.bsky.social
BCS friend Luke Jerram (who gave our 60th Anniversary lecture in 2023) has his 7-metre diameter piece “Museum of the Moon” currently displayed in St Albans Cathedral. It’s quite the spectacle attracting visitors from near and far!

Go before 15th February to see for yourself.

Great to work on more wayfinding solutions to complement these vehicular signs already in place. Developing a style for this town and helping them organise and catalogue their data is so rewarding.

2024 threw me a bit of a curveball career-wise.

I’m pleased to have found amazing support to go freelance, meet new people and with self-belief and determination I’m now looking forward to 2025 as @eventmapsclare

So, Happy New Year, and remember that whatever happens, keep positive!

Very proud to help launch the St Albans Postbox 📮 toppers initiative alongside St Albans MP Daisy Cooper.

My maps were made to help promote the event with the aim of increasing donations to the two chosen charities this year.

Do please donate if you can lnkd.in/e8RF-npu
