Even if she just wanted to wear pretty clothes, I feel it is worth pointing out that US/Euro/UK fashion in the 1830's was unbelievably ugly. It was the height of the big sleeves, widening skirts, and enormous bonnets era.

This Sam Altman drama has reached new heights and I don't even have jokes for this.
We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.

OpenAI has just booted Sam Altman as CEO and removed him from the Board of Directors and they are not being shy about their reasons.

Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.

This quote from Near Intelligence, which gathered and resold data from ad exchanges is as damning as it gets:
In an email viewed by the Journal, Near’s general counsel and chief privacy officer, Jay Angelo, wrote to CEO Anil Mathews that the company was facing three privacy problems. “We sell geolocation data for which we do not have consent to do so…we sell/share device ID data for which we do not have consent to do so [and] we sell data outside the EU for which we do not have consent to do so.”

In the year 2023, an Egyptian politician had malware delivered to his phone via MITM when he visited a website that was not using HTTPS.

This is why we must finish encrypting the goddamn web.
In August and September 2023, Eltantawy’s Vodafone Egypt mobile connection was persistently selected for targeting via network injection; when Eltantawy visited certain websites not using HTTPS, a device installed at the border of Vodafone Egypt’s network automatically redirected him to a malicious website to infect his phone with Cytrox’s Predator spyware.
