Our son was then nine years old and a few weeks beforehand, asked for a tuxedo to wear to the awards gala. We indulged. Kid tuxes are cheap Z I bought a new-to-me dress.

The gala was canceled, of course, though not without a lot of handwringing.

For what it’s worth there are a lot of Christmas/holiday parades in the Milwaukee area. Only instead of seeing balloons of cartoon characters people see politicians and that same party band that plays all the festivals and the guy who owns the Ford dealership.
