They want a savior of their white comforts so desperately. While not saying it out loud, they really want it to be another white person to lift that guilt off of themselves, but are fine with it being non-white people who constantly coddle them as well.

It is lazy and more than likely, some people will "redeem" her. Because again, white people really love white supremacist "redemption" stories. Even, and sometimes especially, when no changes have been made by the person. It makes their whiteness still look "good" and worth keeping around.
