Indeed, the irony of this case, surely lost on Defendants, is this: Lippman falsely portrayed Mr. Ingrassia as a perpetrator of workplace harassment against a female colleague at the Department of Homeland Security, for all the world to see, even after the woman--who Lippman feverishly cast as the 'victim'--unequivocally and repeatedly told Lippman that Mr. Ingrassia did not engage in _any_ wrongdoing, that she never felt uncomfortable around him, that she and Mr. Ingrassia were longtime friends, and that she did not file any complaint against Mr. Ingrassia. Lippman, obsessed with destroying Mr. Ingrassia's promising career and pending Senate nomination at all costs, published his false sexual harassment story anyway, in the process leaving no doubt that he regarded the female colleague's voice as utterly meaningless because he knew better."

It's remarkable how closely arguments for the inevitability of a Godlike AI resemble Scholastic arguments for the existence of God.
Switching the machine off won’t work for the simple reason that a superintelligent entity will already have thought of that possibility and taken steps to prevent it. And it will do that not because it “wants to stay alive” but because it is pursuing whatever objective we gave it and knows that it will fail if it is switched off. We can no more “just switch it off” than we can beat AlphaGo (the world-champion Go-playing program) just by putting stones on the right squares. Anselm's argument in Chapter 2 can be summarized as follows:[23] It is a conceptual truth (or, so to speak, true by definition) that God is a being than which none greater can be imagined. God exists as an idea in the mind. A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind. Thus, if God exists only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God (that is, a being-than-which-none-greater-can-be-imagined that does exist). But we cannot imagine something that is greater than God (for it is a contradiction to suppose that we can imagine a being greater than the being-than-which-none-greater-can-be-imagined.) Therefore, God exists.

Trump Truth Social post from June 12, 2025: "Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace. In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs. This is not good. One thing I love about reading old newspapers is the total minutiae people used to print. The same page in this edition of a local Illinois paper from 1950 includes a list of everyone who visited the nursing home the preceding week.

I recognize the backlash I will likely face in proposing that Democrats seize the center on this issue. But many in the Democratic coalition share, if only among close and trusted friends, the sense that we are walking on eggshells. They fear they’ll be berated or ostracized by making public any viewpoints or using language that diverges from progressive groupthink or online orthodoxy.
