Nice trans-pacific conditions for #hamradio right now. Just called CQ (looking for a contact) using 10 watts (lightbulb power) on the 15 meter band from here in Seattle and got good contacts from Indonesia and Japan.

Pretty sure that my 85 year old dad using these hooks to haul wood around in his pickup is how urban legends get started.

I have several rooms in our house set up with motion sensitive lights that use millimeter wave sensors and are very accurate, only coming on when we are in them.
The basement hall sensor just tripped and I'm here alone with my cat on my lap, so very mysterious and exciting brb

My iPad (Pro 11" M2) standby battery life was pretty short but I basically tripled it with these four Shortcuts automations:
Unplugged: low power mode
Plugged: normal power mode
Home: Wifi on, cell off, VPN off
Away: Wifi off, cell on, VPN on
Unplugged: low power mode
Plugged: normal power mode
Home: Wifi on, cell off, VPN off
Away: Wifi off, cell on, VPN on

Apple, I use this Reminders share sheet 30 times a day or more. Help me not hate it. How on earth do I stop it pausing EVERY TIME to bring up an always EMPTY ai "Suggestions" section? Turning off "suggestions" in Reminders settings does not seem to impact this share sheet. Pure hot garbage.

Players in my Mothership RPG games sign a rulebook when their character dies. Not a huge number of signatures but trending upwards. Have had some impressively cinematic moments in this campaign.

The internet still has quirky fun stuff: modern #hamradio means I can look back towards my house from the Australian station that was receiving me (they posted on the QRZ ham radio site, not just me stalking on Google maps... hams love to share their setups)

I'm mostly being picked up in the states but that one little station in Australia picking up my #hamradio signal is reassuring on this rainy Seattle day.

Am a fan of listening history so I can find stuff I forgot to add/fav, but I also use Apple Music for my RPG session soundtracks and a recent multi-session space opera campaign means that my (usually accurate) Heavy Rotation list is electronica, metal, slow-core, and now about 50% JOHN WILLIAMS.

Anyone know of a defaults setting to default embed PDFs into #AppleNotes as the compact "small" view and not "here's a gigantic embedded viewer that I *never ever want* inside a note?
