Val'dran isn't entirely sure what the definition of a home *is*.

Is it the House he grew up in, filled with people who wish him ill? Is it the simply furnished room in the Bregan D'aerthe compound? The tucked away inn room in Neverwinter?

He's always moving about. No time for a home.

Absolutely fucking not.

Val'dran despises the idea of prophecy and fate. He hasn't struggled his way to freedom, to autonomy, to have it ripped away in the name of someone else's idea of what he should be doing.

At that point he could as well return to his mother.

I don't know that I learnt something new about Val'dran - having been around since 2018, he's got development out his ears!

BUT it's always nice to be able to set words on things, to be able to muse on certain qualities, ideas and concepts.

It's incredibly difficult to choose One Single Picture, even if I'm nowhere near as amazing a VP fiend as some of my friends 😂

But there is something about this one - Val'dran in flight, a dark, shadowy figure stark against the misty, dead surroundings. Gazing upward. For once.

Val'dran isn't so much one for reviews, exactly. He *is* however one for writing down his observations!

Something he tends to do with just about everyone within short time is make himself a short profile to get an overview - to be added to and corrected later.

Shadowheart Race: Half-elf. Female. Age: Young judging by behaviour Height: Around 5 ft 7 or 8 Initial observations: Liar but a poor one. Hides secrets by brazen dismissal and rude remarks. Cleric (of which god?). (Shar). Soft-hearted beneath hard exterior. Conflicted. Memory loss of some sort. Description: Expected height for a half-elf, light pink skin tone. Green eyes. Black hair in oddly structured braid. Scar across the nose and on the hand. Clothing fitted but comfortable. Somewhat heavier armour, to be expected of a cleric. Personality: Subject presents a casual front upon meeting, quickly seeking alliance but also swift to declare no interest in friendship. Sharply focused on goals and targets, more prone to attacking than healing during combat. Seems conflicted with self, contradictory in surprising openness and immediate closing down of various topics. Notes: Subject has a habit of demanding others' secrets while giving none of her own. Val'dran's genuine smiles are rare. A mirthless smile, a kind but thoroughly false smile, these happen often enough. But something real?

He smiles when feeling fond. Of friends. Of lovers. Soft and small and desperately contented.

"First Flight" It's an instinctive motion, thwarted by the fact that the instincts belong to only one part of him. Val'dran throws himself to the side, snarling with too many teeth, too much fury, and his wings spread, flap to bring him out of reach, only— Only he crashes to the ground because he's solid and his wings are not. He climbs to his feet in haste, ducking away, growling and trying not to claw at himself to get the solid off. But if his body is solid. He'll make it not so. This time then, success. Instinct aligning with body. Mostly.

"After First Transformation" He's filthy. Tacky. Drenched. His eyelashes feel heavy with blood. What has he done? What did his mother do to him? He tries to climb to his feet, but he's trembling too badly, and he slips on slick innards strewn across the floor. Something at the back of his mind feels gleeful, sated. It's not him. It's not him, it can't be, it's not, he can't— He's a monster. He's so hungry. His mother— Val'dran keens, grasping at his hair, tugging harshly. She'll lock him in that form again. Starve him. Drive him mad. Use him as a weapon again.

"Seeing a Rainbow" Rain remains a surprisingly pleasant thing. It comes in many variations, Val'dran is starting to learn, and sometimes 'waterfall' is really the best description for even the water from the sky. But he likes it. Likes how it smells after, too. And— The rain is moving on. There's a glimmer of sun at the edge. And Val'dran is baffled to find colours shimmering into existence in the sky. Neatly partitioned, an elegant curve of seven colours growing bright enough that he wonders if it's a spell. But it seems to be… something with the rain. And the sun. Somehow magical.

"Fruit" There are so many fruits. When Val'dran was sent to get fruit — of all possible errands to send him on — he was told to bring 'something good', but how is he to know what is good? So many of the fruits at the stall are brightly coloured; surely then poisonous. And if not poisonous, then there must be something else to them. Some way they must be prepared, perhaps? It's not as if he could simply ask, is it? Even with his disguise of a human male, surely the confusion regarding the fruits would give him away far too quick.

"Thoughts on Writing" It's calming to be able to sit down with his notebook. Nothing to hurry toward, nothing else needing his attention for the time being. Settling with folded legs, dipping his reed pen into ink, tension seeps out of his shoulders. It's perhaps odd. Feeling calm at the concept of taking a few notes. But he likes how it helps him order his thoughts, quiets his mind. They're just simple notes, this time. Remarks on the past few days. No need for code, though he writes in abyssal regardless. Habit. And, as is also his habit, he starts with a summary.

"Realising Feelings — Sorn" It strikes Val'dran that this whole thing with Sorn has become something… different. Deeper? He's not sure either of them had any particular plan beyond wanting to see one another on occasion. It wasn't a… wasn't a relationship like that which he has with Halsin. Only now it sort of is. They write letters. He brings Sorn little gifts. Sorn cheers him and supports him and makes him feel all sorts of warm and… fluttery. He wants to stick close, to be around. So if he wishes to stay. And it feels like with Halsin. Is he in love? Again?

"Realising Feelings — Halsin" Val'dran doesn't like deluding himself. He knows he does at times, but he still doesn't like it, and he tries to avoid it. Thus, he must finally confront the current issue which he may or may not have deluded himself about. Namely that what he feels for Halsin goes… far beyond fondness at this point. …Even that thought makes his stomach tie itself in knots. What word is one to use to describe these feelings, so deep and intense? So much more than simple fondness or affection or comfort. …Could it be that one word? Could it really be… love?

"Earliest memory" Val'dran recalls his sister's hair the best. That seems to be the first thing he can remember from his youth, what hasn't since been erased by time and wear. That long hair, often braided, the very same colour as his own. Thicker though. Wavier when left free. He recalls asking if he could touch it. Recalls Iz'illyss pausing, recalls his own expectation of punishment… and then her kneeling to allow it after all. Telling him that he too would have such hair once grown. That he should take well care of it. What a bittersweet sort of thing to recall.

"Experiencing Rain" Something cold hits his scalp. Jerking with surprise and wariness, Val'dran glances up but sees nothing. Only then the same sensation hits his face, and he lifts his hand immediately to find… water? Another, then another, then another — as he watches the sky with bewilderment, it seems as if the dark clouds break open. Is that… is that rain? It's cold, but… it's almost pleasant, now that he finds it to be just water. Not acid, not venom, just… water. Like a very gentle waterfall, misting and dripping. He should probably find shelter, and he will, but… in a moment.

"Val'dran VS The Cat Tail" "Wait, you want me to what?" Val'dran questions, staring at the item Sorn boldly holds in his hand. Fluffy. White. With a metal cap that extends into what looks like… a sex toy. That one. Wears? "You must be joking," he protests. "No joke! Only delightful fun. What's a kitten without his tail?" Sorn grins slyly. Val'dran flushes pink, reminded of the false ears clipped in his hair, the collar around his neck with its little bell. And the tail, then. The last piece. Apparently. "…Fine," he says. "…I'll wear the thing." "And I'll help you with it," Sorn purrs.

Val'dran's *immediate* first act post game ended up being somewhat unexpectedly being invited by Sorn for a rest and having that develop into their first time together 😂❤️

After that, he went back home to Bregan D'aerthe to check in.

They’ll gather at the campsite again later. What’s going to happen now? Val’dran supposes he’ll find Braelin and… head back up north. Though he’ll need to speak with Halsin about… them. What he wants. What his plans are. Val’dran would like to keep this relationship of theirs, if he’s to be honest. Halsin’s warmth and patience… He supposes he should speak with Sorn too, shouldn’t he? Mention he won’t be around much longer. He’s… probably going to miss the excessively sensual drow. Which is… interesting. “Look who it is!” Val’dran blinks in surprise. Speak of the sun. Sorn waves, almost tripping over a rock in his hurry to move close. More surprising still – or perhaps not – he immediately sweeps Val’dran into a tight embrace. Tight enough to outright lift him, in fact, and he gives a tired chuckle, more amused by it than anything. “Hi, hero,” Sorn smiles at him. “By the gods am I glad to see you alive.” Val’dran snorts, shoving Sorn ineffectually with a hand. “I’m not a hero.”

Ugly is as ugly does, Val'dran finds. It's in action, most often, not appearance.

He does have a preference towards drow concepts of beauty, unsurprisingly, but is also unwilling to follow those completely. He *does* however find round ears somewhat... non-beautiful.
