As if the "Windows will be an agentic OS" nonsense wasn't enough, Microsoft has deprecated Intellicode and marked GitHub Copilot as the successor. I imagine this will go very well in the long run and will not have any net negative effects for their users.

had a sudden, compulsive thought to check whether monad and gonad are similar etymologically. so I did. and yes, they do.

been kinda sad that after all these years of MagSafe on iPhones nobody’s thought about making a keyboard accessory styled after the Nokia n97 keyboard

just imagine the possibilities

Signing out of all the social media because this is a nonsensical time sink 99% of the time and the 1% is just not worth it. I’m going to try to take up a better hobby.

Really tickled by how simple it is to package a program as a binary with Janet. Python should take notes.

Going to spend some time coming to terms with the fact that my chuckles sound like an old, small tractor starting up

Suddenly remembered I used to sneak a pocket radio to school when I was in seventh grade, around 2006-07. It ran on 2xAAA batteries, was about the size of three pencils side-by-side.

it’s such a strong memory. I can almost smell the winter air. I wish I had pictures.

I'm sure that, back when I was 25, there were days when I started out on five hours of sleep and did a lot of driving (motorcycling) around and then felt like my heart was going to give up from that more spicy type of exhaustion. But now I'm 30 and every time this happens it feels like the first.

Rotting in bed and thinking about that one day six years ago when I once hammered down a quarter bottle of Benadryl with two black coffees after lunch, worked til 7 and went on a date with a really wonderful gal who dumped me a couple of months later. I shouldn’t have gotten out of bed that day.

I bought a Macbook Air a few days ago, the base variant with M4. I've used an M1 and have been using an M4 for the last couple of months, which were both for work and so mostly remained permanently plugged in on my desk, and so I've never really appreciated how crazy good Apple has made these.

It’s stupid how good macOS feels to use. Man. I see why people daily drive it for their personal computer.

Hate that screaming (in general, not at people) to vent stress is frowned upon in polite society.

Also, I spilled tea on my laptop today.

My bathroom has a west-facing window near the shower, and the comfort of taking a late afternoon shower with the light streaming in right onto me is just something else.

Tenet, the Nolan movie, really had a lot of things going for it. It had a good conceit, good plot, actually a lot of substance where it mattered, but god, did the editing suck. It's done like so many video tutorials on YouTube - there's barely any breathing room in the conversations at all

might have to go and use melatonin supplements daily to get some decent sleep while I'm between jobs... don't know why but the sort of drowsiness that comes about after taking a little melatonin is really really sweet

Last day of work tomorrow. Going to force myself to relax this weekend. Going to try to not go online too much and read the Terry Pratchett books I bought in December.

Microsoft copilot is wasted effort. They should work on real features, like giving us the Word 95 UI back.

Spent much of this weekend mostly at a friend’s wedding. Caught up with folks I didn’t imagine I’d catch up with at all. Drove home today with my heart feeling a smidge lighter than it has felt for a long, long while.
