Me, I'm still loath to buy booze from the USA, but I'd be tempted IF the recipient charities were ones that feed, clothe and house fugitives from ICE. That could make news and get back to their media -- another thumb-in-the-eye from Canada.

What gets me is that special interest groups try to do the right thing by organising webinars on ventilation, but they get the wrong panelists. I belong to one that held three webinars this year with a doctor, a bureaucrat, an architect, but NEVER an engineer!

Exactly! I confess that I am opinionated -- and free with them, duly factchecked and footnoted. Sadly, no one will listen that extra second or two anymore, so when a naysayer inevitably demands how do I know that... water is wet, or whatever... my stock reply is "I read." True, if a tad snarky.

Here in my neighbourhood last summer, there was "an active shooter" -- which turned out to be a lie. The only ones shooting were the cops -- on a crowded city street, mid-day, mid-week. A block away an officer on foot tried to block from me entering my own home -- where I'd be safe from cowboy cops

Pest control chappie came inside our unit today. Scheduled yesterday w warning that he won't be let inside without a mask. We can provide one if need be. Today, a very pleasant Caribbean ex-pat came, asked for a mask and apologised for not having one. Visit lasted ~10 mins; his nasty cologne ~2 hrs

FWIW, I use an ordinary tablet, log into the library system here in Toronto, and borrow ebooks using one of their own apps -- most often, Libby.

And I earnestly hope they don't get screwed, if they do come, the way our own have been screwed -- by red tape, slashed budgets, spite and betrayal. The Avro Arrow in 1959 and the Novavax sellout in 2022. So much for Cdn 'self-reliance'. Few doses available cross country; none here in Onterrible.
