A few years back I was on an airplane and sat next to a delightfully funny Drag Queen who was at this video shoot. Apparantly a majority of the crowd in the official music were LGBTQ scenesters and they were not mocked or used for laughs, just shown as sexy and cool. This was in 1995!

Healthcare is a great example of this: some of the treatments available today for diseases that were a death sentence decades ago are only effectively available to a fraction of the population. "But you're getting top of the line treatment from 1989!" isn't a great argument when a cure exists today
