I think I'm misunderstanding sops-nix for #NixOS deployment on a new device. Do I need to add the key.txt manually or just add the new device's ssh key into the .sops.yaml file and its understood that it's trusted?

Still working on getting the #NixOS server config written, deciding to also learn how #nixos-anywhere works. Biggest hurdle seems to be I get my main decryption key into /var/lib/sops-nix so the user creation stuff works.

I'm comfortable enough with my #NixOS setup on my tower, laptop, and Deck that I'm now looking at refactoring my homelab to use it. Any suggestions or recommendations for me as I dive down the hole that is secrets management?

My #SteamDeck is running #NixOS and works (almost) perfectly!
Gaming works just fine, desktop mode controls are pretty wonky without a mouse/keyboard, and you can only declare the installation of decky-loader, not any of the plugins (yet, looks like there's a PR for it being worked on)

Okay, I'm stumped with a #NixOS problem: (almost) every time I rebuild, I have to rm `.mozilla/firefox/default/search.json.mozlz4` and `.thunderbird/default/search.json.mozlz4` to get it to build. Is there a way to do this without `backupFileExtension`? I want to just --forceclobber...

I just spent an infuriatingly long time learning the lesson " #NixOS devices can call some .nix files, #home-manager configs can call others, but rarely do those intersect"

Ok, I apparently don't understand the fresh-install process for #NixOS. I thought having flakes and home-manager defined in my flake.nix was enough for it to all switch over.
I've learned this because I just installed it on my main tower 😬

Ok what's your organization strategy for your #NixOS config files? I'm trying to separate things as it makes sense but I feel like I'm maybe putting too much work into it.

Working on figuring out multi-host #NixOS configuration and looking at @wimpys.world's examples and am IMMEDIATELY thrown off by his lack of configuration.nix
