Snow amounts climbed to 2.5 to 5"; 3-4" most common. Dulles has received 4" while DCA picked up 1" in last hour w/ 3"+ on ground.
Sleet line is advancing north and Beltway should transition next hour.

NEW UPDATED: “Our museums, research centers, and the National Zoo are open today, and will remain open through Saturday, October 11.

If the government shutdown continues past October 11, the Smithsonian will then close to the public.” www.si.edu
