It may sound radical, but if one guy has so much wealth and power that he can use the large newspaper he owns to publicly threaten to ruin a service we all rely on, presumably as a bargaining tactic to get lower rates, we probably need to tax that guy until he can't do that anymore.
Exclusive: Amazon has long been USPS’s top customer, providing over $6 billion in annual revenue in 2025.

But Amazon may give up its long-standing partnership with USPS to deliver packages itself, which could spell disaster for the mail agency.

no right, this makes sense, because the business here is bad

this is actually insane
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

also think this fantasy of mastery expresses itself as an opportunity for total surrender, to expect nothing from yourself
"Generative AI platforms center the idea that one has written, or created, by interacting with a structure they did not build and do not understand" - this I think is key -- less about interpassivity & 100% about the master/slave dialectic: the point is not to create but to be a master.

i have the opportunity to see a movie solo while wife+family see wicked 2: 2 wickeds. options are running man, predator, and hamnet — and I feel like the universe would like me to sit through hamnet, despite my being filled w conviction that this will be a bad movie cloaked as good. anyone seen it?

it's that time of year where i can whip out this, the craziest ad of all time. what happens at the "climax" is so funny—i don't understand how the actor at that moment could have been directed sincerely by any person. other than maybe some total saboteur tim robinson type.

Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

I guess you make a protracted 12-hour series on solitude and isolation and you invite this sort of thing, but: it is shocking to me how little I myself have progressed from the first conversation in this first episode—recorded with @juskewitch.bsky.social & @lazenby.bsky.social in april 2019. fuck.

you really couldn't do better than 25 years after 9/11 dick cheney finally dies on the same day as a majority of NYC voters elect a socialist muslim mayor. that is some mythic lightbearer being sweatily forged in the darkness type mythos.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
