I think the initial contact was only a few months for psychiatry UK and the whole process has been going for 2 years whereas with my former PCT the initial contact was after nearly three!
I think it depends on how good local services are that makes it worth it or not.

Long wait times(tho less than NHS psychiatry), but other than that fine so far.

Had I not already put in for right to choose (RTC) w/ Psychiatry UK, I woulda been screwed.
Not sure why I didn't drop off their list when I moved to RTC but oh well.
Oh! Also you'll wanna find out if your GP does shared care or if Psychiatry UK will have to handle titration onto meds.

Also if you move out of the area Psychiatry UK will still see you whereas a PCT won't.
I moved and the PCT called to offer me an appointment as I'd reached the top of their list finally but as I'd moved they wouldn't see...
