This is why I don't read anything published on Substack, no matter who is writing it.

Ghost, Buttondown, and other services exist and even provide methods to move from Substack.

If you're not moving, are you really supporting the causes you're writing about?
No, I will not read “your substack.”

Stop calling your written work by a name that is synonymous with “funds nazi speech.”

Because what I read when you say “check out my substack” is “check out how I’m helping fund Nazi speech!”

No. I will not do that.

What happens when the owners of Substack decide to start throttling the work of left-leaning journalists?

They just came out in favor of Musk and Zuckerberg.

What happens when all important journalism is attached to a Nazi platform?

I’m going to lose my mind.

Gestures <all this>: Hell. Construction, packing, and getting my house ready to sell: Hell. The resultant not-sleeping: Hell.

Please send me links to good stuff to follow on here so I can just scroll sometimes instead of doomscrolling... TIA

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Burrito for breakfast. Good decision number one. A great way to start.

I just deleted Instagram & Facebook, and it turns out for some reason I had a WhatsApp account, so I deleted that too.

Now where am I going to get all my ads for stuff I didn't know I needed???

I wish "Mom" hadn't been canceled. "It's not a sin to be thrifty, dear" cracks me up every time.

Today I'm thinking about my husband Craig on what should have been his 61st birthday. He was a good man.

It's cloudy and dark here. I'm not ready for it to be turning into Winter.

I’ve not been in the mood to cook for 8 days and I’m blowing through my freezer stash of dinners. Say something to motivate me to get cooking again!

OK, I'm back here. I spent a while on Threads and I'm... dissatisfied.
November 12, 2024 at 1:07 AM
So I’m torn between Threads and Bluesky. What do you all think?

By complete chance I'm making cheeseburgers (with tater tots!) tonight on National Cheeseburger Day. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket...

Happy birthday to me! It's a little sad this year, though, since almost 4 years ago my husband Craig died unexpectedly at the age I am today. It's strange being his last age and getting older than he was every day.
