“Conservatives would never accept a left-wing government using regulatory favoritism to pressure conservative media”—but now that this is occurring at CBS, they offer “pointillistic defenses” of Bari Weiss spiking a “60 Minutes” story, @jonathanchait argues.

It is impossible to take her actions at face value given the context in which she is operating.

NYC is "so far gone" that the NYPD has been forced to issue press releases announcing that homicides are ... at absolute historic LOWS.

Every crime rate in DC is down, and murders in 2024 had erased the Covid spike, on trend this year to be lower than 2019.

If we had a real mayor, he'd tell all New York City public school kids to shoot a bunch of Tik Tok videos dragging Sean Duffy for being afraid to take the same subway they ride without incident every day.
Duffy: "If you're liberal, they want you to take public transportation ... the problem is that it's dirty. You have criminals. It's homeless shelters. It's insane asylums. It's a work ground for the criminal element of the city to prey upon the good people."

I sure hope Jeffrey Goldberg was invited to the “April 9 pump and dump” Signal chat.
“What has the country gotten for all of this chaos? Nothing. Trump tarnished the United States’ long-standing trading relationships and boosted the cost of imports, and evidently won zero concessions in return,” @annielowrey.bsky.social writes:

The Liberation Day pause is better than the Liberation Day policy itself was. But Americans are getting a raw deal one way or another.

Without a doubt, one of the wildest stories ever. A little over a week ago, the national-security adviser inadvertently added @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social to a group chat with the VP and others to plan an attack on the Houthis.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.
