I have been making digital art since the days you had to plot pixels out on graph paper and hand-calculate their hexadecimal value to poke screen memory addresses while some old guy tells you the computer does all the work.

Two men sword fighting in a forest. The man on the right is performing what is known as a "hook": He has one hand on the pommel and one hand on the blade near the tip. He uses the middle of the blade to block the attack of his opponent while simultaneously hooking his opponent's shoulder with the cross guard. The block is very secure thanks to the positioning of his hands on either end of the sword, and the hook pushes his opponent backwards and off balance. The title of the piece is called "A Hook From the Hanging" which is a reference to the "hook" I've described, and also the "hanging" which is where you hold the sword high over your head with your hands in the described position (as if you were hanging from the suspended sword). This is an actual long sword maneuver described by Joachim Meyer in his 15th century book titled "The Art of Combat" which is commonly used today as a manual of swordsmanship in many HEMA schools around the world. The man on the right who is performing this maneuver has a red beard. His opponent has a grimace from the blow, his helmet is in the process of being knocked off, and he can be assumed to be defeated in the next frame. If you zoom in, you can see where I spent too much time illustrating a small tear in the red-bearded man's green shirt, revealing the chainmail underneath.

Before the internet, I had to have my portfolio on slides. I had them professionally done and had to pray they were returned. It got so expensive I bought this book and learned to do it myself.

"The Captain" was done in Sketchbook. I recorded it with OBS, so you can really see how I move the canvas around, which you don't get with Procreate's or Clip's recording.

Image depicts a large, quivering mass of flesh, completely covered in wide open eyes and mouths. Some of the mouths have tongues sticking out. The random arrangement of eyes and mouths kinda tricks your brain into seeing various complete faces all over the thing, but they all look crazed. The thing is surrounded in a glowing blue haze and sits in a puddle of its own drool. The scene is inside a dark cave - exactly the sort of claustrophobic place you'd run into such a thing, of course. I mean, you wouldn't find this guy in a Starbucks. Or you might. I don't know. Some people just don't know how to STFU.
