Badass song of the week: I’ve had this song on repeat, and I cannot stop listening to it. Smooth grooves of modern funk-soul and the silkiest vibe of the day for cruising the open road (or getting some writing done).

My daughter said I’m “cringe”, but I don’t care—it was super fun doing Immersive Gaming for both SQUID GAMES and FLOOR IS LAVA with her!
(and I.G. is def. better than V.R. or A.R.)

Did a small backpacking trek over the weekend, up to Cedar Glen (Mt. Baldy) in the San Gabriel Mountains. Carried in my gear and pitched a hammock between pine trees for the cold night. Beautiful scenery and clear views (especially of all of L.A. lights laid out in the far distance like molten lava)

Went tramping around the San Gabriel Mountains yesterday. Hiked to S.G. peak, then down and up Mt. Disappointment (true name!) Lots of history up there. Drizzly & thick fog going up the mountains, but at about 5,500+ elevation, broke through the clouds to brilliant, blue skies.

Received another spam call from a publicity/agenting house, in a barely legible voice and in the most disinterested intonation possible, to “discuss turning my books into blockbuster sellers and lucrative movies.”

Bruh, if you’re gonna call, at least pronounce my name right. I’m not a “Gig-a-nerd”.

Over the weekend, I camped with my daughter's Girls Troop 220 of BSA on an island in San Diego Harbor. I set up on my own private cove, right on the beach, outside the camp overlooking the distant lights of Sea World... not a bad way to spend Friday through Sunday!

Dang. This is a werewolf story like no other I’ve ever read. Gemma Files dethrones the patriarchy with her take on a classic story. Order this book through @darkmoonbooks.bsky.social (@ericjguignard.bsky.social). If this collection opens with this banger, then I’m in for a treat.
