At the absolute minimum, it was heavily facilitated and encouraged, if not outright coerced. But whether it was his own hands lowering the noose, or someone else's, it happened because of the intervention of powerful people with something to lose.

I could throw a badge into a crowd, and whoever it hits in the back of the head would be able to do these jobs more professionally than this cabal of buffoons who were hand-picked for their lousy personalities.

I'm confident that a broad majority of addictions would never start in the first place if people's needs were better taken care of. Addiction is usually an act of self-medication.

Nobody should ever be able to sit atop a pile of money they didn't earn themselves. And I mean EARN, not passively funneled towards them via the labor of others.

I'm also extremely hostile towards inherited wealth as a concept. Inherited possessions, sure, that's "your toothbrush" manner of personal property. But wealth? Nobody's survival should be dependent on something like familial means in the first place.

Literally nothing that is required for survival (food, shelter, medicine, etc) or even modest comfort should be paid for personally. We are all collectively responsible for one another's lives. If one of us is hungry, exposed, or sick due to monetary cost, that is a failure on us all.
