Just saw a Google x Stranger Things ad that's promoting AI Mode as a way to discern which episodes can be skipped to catch up in time with the new season, in case you needed another reason to bomb every AI data center out of existence.

Check it out: me and @noellenorthstar.bsky.social are contributing to this nifty RE-ANIMATOR fanzine - one of the first films we ever watched together!

KT's written a great, moody five page comic short that I'm drawing and they're colouring - stay tuned for sneak peaks!
We are thrilled to introduce our lineup of scarily talented contributors! They are working hard to bring our project to terrifying, wonderful life…🧟💉💚

You may know DivX as a codec, but did you know that it was also once a competing format to DVD in the late 90s?

DivX movie discs had DRM that required a fee of $4.49 to unlock by phone and modem for 48 hours. Then they'd go unwatchable until you paid $3.25 for another 48 hours.

JK Rowling got a full *decade* of press as a martyr for being "cancelled" (declared passe by people online) and meanwhile nobody considers it very interesting that a prominent left wing author is basically banned from entering or publishing in the United Kingdom for her politics
so this is like, one of the biggest free speech infringements by a western democracy in our lifetimes right?

Article reads like ShitGPT slop and surprise surprise - so does the author's bio.

Excited to say that I've recorded my first audio commentary, for @88films.bsky.social' upcoming Blu-ray of SAKURAN (2006). The eye-popping directorial debut of photography icon Mika Ninagawa, based on a manga by Moyoco Anno.

Due out 23rd March and available to pre-order at the usual places.

I don't pirate anywhere near as much as I buy (maybe accounts for 10% of my combined film collection), but if you're in any way deep in the weeds with this stuff then you're gonna find yourself hitting a legal dead end eventually and firing up the torrent sites to find that film with 153 logs on LB
piracy discourse is so exhausting and passe, but i will observe that every truly great collector of physical media I know has a big harddrive of pirated books and movies. you literally cannot have one without the other

Hey @bsky.app @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team please unsuspend Goran immediately.

Goran is a great person, a great artist, and the whole anti-Palestine thing youre on is one of those "Ford funding Hitler" disasters you remember being shocked and dismayed by when you learned of in middle school.

Been absolutely loving this series; charts an entertaining history of the earliest days of bringing anime/manga to English audiences when everyone seemed to be just throwing anything against the wall and seeing if it stuck.
New episode of the The Anime Business is available to watch!

John Sirabella talks about @media-blasters.com, CPM, and Surviving the DVD Crash.

Always share that good Kordey shit
Just thinking about the Igor Kordey story in CABLE #100 where Cable silently purges the techno-organic virus from his body. It's a brilliant short & was a huge inspiration our 2018 run.
