Spoiler alert: I hate using the term “gaslighting” but, hoo boy, I struggle to read pro-LLM pundits and wonder what they’re seeing that I’m not with this new technology.
Poll: My editor/researcher timed himself using a LLM for a data collection task vs. doing it himself. Question:

1. He did the task quicker than the LLM.
2. He saved time using the LLM.

The saddest part of the "Disney made an AI" deal is the explanation is, "Disney had no choice, since we don't enforce copyright law for AI platforms."

If we did, Disney would get an even better return on their valuable IP.

BTW, don't kid yourself, copyright is vital.

Sorry, not be all "harp on Disney"...

...but did anyone notice that they didn't actually put out how much licensing revenue they stand to make? Weird right? Even a projection? Or the share?

When they did their big gambling deals, we got numbers.
How to know when a bubble is at its peak?

Disney invests in it!

(Meta/VR, Multi-Channel Networks, Club Penguin, Disney Infinity)

Definitely, though, AI isn’t a bubble.

Fascinating how much of the coverage focused on the Epic Games investment and not, you know, this...

And they want to IPO at $1.5T.

So a 100 times revenue multiple!

Who says the stock market is overheated.
It’s crazy to me that more headlines focus on SpaceX’s private valuation (and what they hope to get in an IPO) than the fact that the company is valued at 23X revenue. (Math: $15B in revenue to $350B in last private valuation.)

This is great work by @theankler.com Matthew Frank really showcasing the corrosive impact of market power.

My definitve case against ANYONE buying Warner Bros.

- It fails the consumer welfare standard
- It won't create value for the economy
- And it lessens competition.

Gotta love it!

Here's a fun Q from my last @TheAnkler article:

Which of these straight-to-streaming films would have grossed more than the comps I suggested? Which less?

(Feel like this subtly has major implications for the news of the last week...)

What do I always say? Strategy is Numbers. Well, Evan Shapiro PROVIDES THE NUMBERS!

Sorry for the capslock/shouting, but this is my fav piece of his all year, hand’s down.

I hope to run some numbers too, and will absolutely cite this piece.
