Simply having debug info displays which I can toggle on and off has helped me find, fix, and prevent many bugs in the game.

I just realised that I don't really even need a panel to contain the battle choices.

I'm surpised that I didn't think of it until now. I blame that I've worked as a web developer for too long.

Experimenting with the #UIUX more I think I like this split-panel approach more than the old nested panels.

The planets are a little too noticible between the gaps. Maybe I need to fade them during battles.

In some ways the planets were more difficult to draw than the fox-girls. I had to draw the planets somwhat resembling real life, and I had to simplify and exagerate features to make them look OK in the game's style.

Sometimes things in #vectorart are not as they seem.

My business cards arrived. I'm quite happy with how they turned out.

I'm currenlty considering giving Teatime Fox subtle Eyelashes.

Does she look better with or without them? Or should I try a different eyelash style?

Previously I spent a lot of time tring to show players how mental stats interacted with choices.

Now that I've removed mental stats the UI feels much simpler, and I have less that I need to show and teach the player.

I decided to make a pretty significant change to the game.
These mental essences (stats) have been a part of the game design for a long time, but I've decided to remove them. They are pretty deeply rooted in the game design, so I need to rework a lot. 😢

I'm surprised how much of a difference movement makes even without adding sprite changes yet.

Looking through my screen recordings folder I just realised I have an old screen recording from when I was drawing the ear fluff for the base character. (I was sharing it with someone to show what it was like to use #Inkscape)

I quickly made a tool to help me preview animations while I'm working on them. It animates layers of an #inkscape svg, which I will export as a spritesheet later.
It also watches for changes to the original file, so I can see changes as I make them.

I spent too much trying to win this.

There is one game center I normally go to where I can usually win easily, but I got impatient and went to the closest game center.

I added a "Press any button" state at the start of the title screen.

This was actually done to hide some loading, but I think it adds some charm compared to showing the save slots immediately.

I realized after ordering the business cards that I could use the s team url to make a shorter QR code.

It looks better, but I'll have to wait until I use up the first batch before I order more.

I've been meaning to make business cards for a while so that I can give something to people I meet.

Here is the front side of a business card I put together quickly. If you see me at events in future I can give you one.

Most events in the game have 4-5 choices but I had a single special event with 8 chocies which felt a little overwhelming.

After thinking about it I decided to make this 1 event have a random outcome, and it will be the only event with a random outcome.

I tried lightening the overall UI to reduce the harshness of light text on a dark background.

I also added a little orange to the UI to go with the fox theme. 🦊

I'll try to experiment with the UI more in future.

I just updated the FoxHaunt logo to have a bigger white outline, and I updated some #steam page assets to match it.

I think this makes the logo easier to read at different sizes.

This won't appear in the game, but here is what the Charming Fox looks like without her hat.

It's my first time ordering a custom acrylic block, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

The first ever FoxHaunt merch. I got them mainly because I wanted something myself. I haven't decided what to do with the extras yet.

There's one character I haven't shown so far, the "Bay Fox".

This was actually the first character I drew for FoxHaunt.

While I was looking at a screenshot I noticed that Teatime fox's tail looked different than intended.

Then I realized that #godot SVG import ptobably wasn't rendering the image the same as Inkscape.

I fixed it by drawing it a different way, but I need to be careful in future.
