The term tomboy even had a period where it was used to promote white supremacy after slavery was abolished (yeah, always fun to run into some surprise racism when researching the history of western social concepts)

It was started off as a term to describe literal rowdy young boys, then it shifted to describe “immodest” young girls who did behaviors associated with boys (during a time period were gender roles were extra stricr). Those behaviors were mostly about doing physical activities like climbing trees

I’ve just been trapped in a particularly bad slump, where I‘m experiencing even lower amounts of concentration and enjoyment when I engage in other hobbies, I keep finding the negative in everything or feeling only barely entertained, it’s so hard to not quit midway and turn back to social media

the second I encounter an upsetting post or comment thread, all those feelings come crashing back. The negatives of using social media have now seriously outweighed the positives, it has for years, at this point.
