i mean to some degree you can add an extra - but in general the rail network is already massively capacity constrained so in practical terms you often can't. Don't get me wrong, I'm into the rail network, more trains too! (and cable cars).

relatively low capacity - but the thing that engineers always seem to forget is that they're continuous flow. This is MUCH more appealing to passengers. It's not just about capacity. So yeah, cowley branch line can move double the no. people, but only two trains hourly. Different proposition!

Yes but as you'll doubtless have seen from the article, the EUR 1Bn cost of tubes is a bit of an issue. Oxford isn't going to have an underground anytime soon due to flooding as well as cost & usage - I'm talking Oxford here, not London.
