I went from weeping this morning, to rage this afternoon, to grocery store sushi. It’s been a whirlwind of a day.

Oh, @amandaheldopelt.bsky.social, thank you for this song today. I’ve needed it after the morning we’ve had here in MN. The pain and grief are so deep. And the body can’t seemingly bear it all and yet, it carries me through. Thank you! youtu.be/sxV8Jj4eF8A

I stayed up to finish Heart the Lover by Lily King. It’s a beautiful companion to Writers & Lovers. It hit viscerally, leaving me a little raw. Looking back, removed by decades, considering decisions made or not made. All the seriousness and gravity of life you felt at that age. Whew.

I want to tell you about what's happening here in Minnesota.

Oh, Minneapolis. This is devastating. I…can’t even….

My mom’s rolling hardtack and I’m wrapping gifts while we listen to Christmas cds on my cd player from high school. The sound is so good. No wonder Gen Z and Gen Alpha are getting back into physical media.

I’m loving Christmas Eve Bluesky. You all are a delight.

Feist is having the Kate Bush moment of 2025. Love this for her. Love this for us. ❤️

My favorite Super Bowl day activities: ignoring the game and going to the grocery store or to the movies. If it’s the former, your cart glides through the aisles without bumping into folks and you breeze through the checkout lines. If it’s the latter, it’s just you and three other people. Glorious.

What was it about the 90s? Going through old clothes and it’s abundantly clear my high school aesthetic was middle-aged lawyer. Seriously. How many blazers did one teenager need?

Life is at an inflection point for many of us. We wrestle with what we intend to be and how we will move throughout the world, not just over the next four years, but really 10-20 years.

I read a wide swath of books in terms of page count but it’s increasingly harder to open up Libby and see an e-book is over 600 pages. I don’t know if I have it in me this year. Gulp.

I’m roughly a once-a-year hot chocolate drinker. Today might be that day. Burrrr.

While digging through drawers, I found this at my parent’s house over the weekend. Just need a cassette player and a landline and we’re good to go.

I have had at least ten text messages that my international packages cannot be delivered due to my incomplete zip code. Can I help it that I’m furiously ordering from international retailers before the tariffs kick in and I’ve forgotten my zip code every time? Surely, who amongst us?

Not missing those horrible ads for bras or zombie video games that you couldn’t block, mute, hide, or ignore because they were every third post on your timeline.

I might be doing some minor retail therapy in response to the election results. I have now ordered 14 perfume samples to find my signature scent to wear into the apocalypse. If I’m going down, I’m going down smelling good.

#TwinCities peeps, what are your favorite used bookstores in the area? I’m looking primarily for female authors that I missed in the first half of life. I recently picked up Jean Rhys, Françoise Sagan, Elizabeth Bowen, and Muriel Spark (the latter two I bought from Shakespeare and Co this summer). ❤️

I had to leave The Bad Place.

Here’s to finding a new place with thoughtful, fun, witty people, ideas, art, books, essays, pop culture references, and more!
