ban car advertising and add the externality cost to the sticker price, then i'll take the market as a serious argument

they will make up cargo "needs" because they don't want the smallest car at the office when small cars become punchlines. they will absorb the advertising into their belief system and fantasize about lives they will never lead. the cars don't cost enough for their negative impact.

the only car i ever bought new is the EV I currently drive. I wanted my grandma's honda fit but i literally don't fit in the front seats. "we made subcompacts unattractive and they sold less" is not an excuse, it's just a statement of fact, people aren't perfectly rational actors.

with the field tilted heavily towards SUVs and pickup trucks, true, but not informative. marketing pushed people to bigger cars (profit margins). low fuel costs pushed people to consume more. then, the more big cars are out there, the more people want bigger ones so they feel safer

hard to say the market rejected them when epa standards pushed manufacturers to larger cars and SUVs which led to a domino effect when gas was unreasonably cheap

i'm mostly mad that this is coming from people who seem to reject morality as an argument when convenient. rejecting these orgs? fine, good even, but very rich coming from them, and i doubt they will apply the same standard in 2026 or 2028.

I haven't seen the first one since 2010 and I hear a lot about seeing it in theaters, but since the IMAX sucks here, do you think a 4k blu ray on an 65" OLED would be acceptable? Ever since I watched all the netflix/bbc nature docs I'm looking for eye candy for the TV

at least those are on youtube in longueuil. like i appreciate that catherine fournier does these video explainers about what's going on but if you're not following via social media you get nothing out of 95% of city council meetings or official communication

right wingers love the aesthetic of patriotism but spit on the basic principles and aspirations of the country out of ignorance or malice

still insane to me that the 10k on healthcare would probably be less than 5k in taxes if socialized for 90% of people, plus not having to worry about networks and other private insurance nonsense, and it hasn't happened yet.

the new metro (azur) is really nice, if you head to the blue or yellow line you should see the old mr-76 from the olympics

yeah there's probably no way for congressional dem leadership to appease him through flattery anymore. i'm just annoyed that they still haven't learned to support their popular, charismatic rising stars. they just look pissed that he's making them look bad
