My great-grandfather started The Society for the Benefit of the Citizens of Guardia-Lombardi, an Italian immigrant support network. When they got off the boat at Ellis, they were given a handbook that listed resources like where to find housing, a job, relatives, etc. My dad has a copy of the book.

A loved one is an indie artist trying to build a following on Spotify long before the ICE issue. He has accts on SoundCloud, YouTube, IG, etc. but it’s so hard getting noticed & now the boycott makes it harder. It’s not just big artists there. I understand reason for boycott but still sad for him. 💔

THIS PIE. The best pecan pie I ever had. Rich depth of flavor and not cloyingly sweet. The only change I made is to swap agave nectar for the maple syrup cuz that’s what I had. A new Thanksgiving tradition has begun! Recipe is from The Banana Diaries #vegan #veganfood

Re MTG’s 180: Respite from her abuse brings relief which is not to be confused w/ approval or support. Public apology & long-term change is what it will take to build back trust. I want to believe it for her but once bitten… Otoh, at one point we will all have to to deal w/ conversion of ex magas.
