Shitty newspapers, shitty editors, shitty publishers, shitty values.
Here's how WaPo and the Times
handled this.

The Times didn't mention the anti-Somali racism. WaPo simply said Trump "revealed his thoughts about Somalia."

WaPo cited Trump praising Hell's Angels without noting he did it while attacking "vicious people" from "the Congo."

As I tell my students:

“Where there is chaos, there is opportunity.”

There is a great opportunity to rebuild infrastructure in other regions and in private enterprises, with support from investors such as major pension funds.

Opportunity to build, but with real urgency.

This is great - it's about time someone updated the discourse on LLM energy usage to reflect that coding agents use massively more prompts than occasional questions to ChatGPT

Simon estimates that a day of coding agent usage comes out close to the energy needed to run a dishwasher
Whenever I read discourse on AI energy/water use that focuses on the "median query," I can't help but feel misled. Coding agents like Claude Code send hundreds of longer-than-median queries every session, and I run dozens of sessions a day.

The Musk-RyanAir feud is stupid, but it's one result of extreme global wealth inequality. The richest person in the history of the world can threaten to buy a company because its leader dared to challenge him. It's like a rich kid buying the nightclub because they wouldn't let him in.

Outside of that the US is obviously massively richer now, 1887 was, in fact, a recession year in a decade of recessions. Which probably accounts for why incumbent presidents/parties lost in 1884, 1888, 1892, and 1896.
Trump: "If you go back to 1887, that was probably richest point that our country was ever in. And it was all tariff income."

The Insurrection Act in no way whatsoever suspends, closes, or bypasses the courts. It is not a suspension of habeas corpus. It is not martial law. It does not authorize rule by decree. It allows using troops for law enforcement but that's it. It's not an instant dictatorship switch.
Trump on the Insurrection Act: "It does make life a lot easier. You don't through the court system. It's just a much easier thing to do."

I was a single-issue voter, and that issue was water coming out of the sink. I do not regret my vote.
Q: What goals do you have for '26 in Congress for your agenda?

TRUMP: I have great executive orders. Like, water coming out of a sink. The water wouldn't come out. They had all sorts of restrictions. I took them off. Straws. They don't have to be paper anymore. I'd like to have all that confirmed.
