Iran is an Islamic theocracy because of the US. Iran had a democratic government which the US and UK overthrew to install a brutal pro western dictatorship for oil. The 79 revolution was a direct consequence of this. People pretend the government is anti-US for no reason

“Mark the first week of 2026 as the one in which the often overblown rhetoric of the Trump administration took a chilling turn into threats that have to be seen in the deeply alarming context of its actual actions”

The rhetoric of the Trump administration has taken a chilling turn
There have been plenty of examples of the Trump administration's contempt for legalities, diplomacy and alliances but this week Trump and his lieutenants went further.

For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:

Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down

Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace

Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs

Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

Brain fart: I am surprised that US states are letting this happen based on the rhetoric you always hear about the right to bear arms. Not that I think or support war/violence is the answer but this does seem to fit the bill.

When it comes to violence against protesters, this administration has a track record of lies
It is difficult to take ICE’s claims about Minneapolis seriously when it has already been called out for gross misrepresentations about its encounters with demonstrators.

Burning coal and gas fuels climate destruction – putting the people and places we love in more danger with less time to prepare. It’s time for Australia…

Hey @albomp.bsky.social , are we “all the way with DJT”? Because I think we Australians are going to need a little reassurance from you that this is NOT your idea of a safe alliance either, and that being blu-tacked to a lunatic will not end well for us.
Thanks for your consideration.

Point D - which those in the know are conveniently forgetting.

To be fair, Australians have very little trust in any national inquiry/RC for several reasons:

a) RCs/inquiries cost a shitload

b) Recommendations hardly ever fully implemented

c) A lawyer's picnic

d) RCs can't commence until trial/Appeal have been exhausted

Reynolds financially destroys a rape victim because the Labor party picked on her. The tortured victimhood - for a powerful politician - was ludicrous. A pyrrhic judicial victory which did nothing to restore her reputation.
