Being a widow doesn't sound so bad. They could own property.

I think the church got the nuns' money.

I suspect that the church provided a respectable vocation for gay people.

Fathers sometimes sent troublesome daughters to nunneries', at least in books.

Thanks for your analysis. I had never considered the 14th Amendment and the European class system.

Sorry for going off on a tangent. I thought the reasoning was interesting.

The Florida Bar and Supreme Court are wrong, in my opinion.

Chickenshits.

The Florida Bar declined to investigate Pam Bondi, and the Florida Supreme Court said the petitioners had no right to relief.

I like this cartoonish statute. I don't understand it though.

It would be fitting if a copyright had been infringed upon. Trump doesn't come by anything honestly.

Shame on Spell Check!

This is a reminder that women in the USA were understood to be nonpersons, that is, not having the capacity to sue or be sued to protect rights. We were our father's property until marriage, then we were our husband's. It made sense (to men) that our citizenship was dependent upon these men.

FYI: Precedents.

It's an easy mistake to make. If we know the word from hearing it, rather than reading it, so we spell it in a familiar way.

I'm a big reader, so I sometimes mispronounce words which I've never heard spoken. My bloopers include awry, exquisite and melancholy.

A billionaire whose girlfriend is a dentist, that's who.

Epstein's last known "girlfriend" was Karyna Shuliak, a dentist. She immigrated from Belarus in 2009 at age 20. Epstein may have paid her tuition.

I have to ask, Irish or Scots-Irish? The South had a lot of Scots-Irish immigrants, but not so many Roman Catholics from Ireland. I think of Catholic Irish people settling in Boston and New York City.

Thanks for fixing that because I'd be searching for photos of Grover Cleveland's inauguration in 1983.

That's weird. I've heard of using pellet guns to get rid of varmints. The defendant is not required to explain himself, but I'd like to know what he thought he was doing.

I'm watching Grantchester right now! This series has great actors playing great characters.

I like the old cars too.

My favorite characters: Sylvia McGuire and Leonard Finch.

It's a British mystery series with quirky characters.

I'd like to see these photos replace Trump's photo in all federal buildings.
