I don’t want to be a trad wife or a boss bitch, I want to be a schlubby funny guy married to a Type A over-achieving hot woman who is always fondly exasperated with me.

I wrote about one of the many thoughts about Renee Good that’s been keeping me up at night https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2026/01/renee-good-killing-ice-watch-mom.html

I think this is it. I think they think much of America is so deeply misogynistic and homophobic that they’ll see a mouthy dyke who had it coming.
they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

Stop chipping away at my cynicism, I need it!!
This morning, Ms. Rachel and I visited District 2 Pre-K Center, where we sang and read with the wonderful students and educators. We also discussed universal childcare - and how we're making it happen for NYC!

"what are we going to do with 20,000 ICE agents if we abolish ice" well to start with I think we should all literally spit on them in public for the rest of their lives

I’m retired from sexuality but I remember all of you were super worried a couple years back that the young people weren’t horny enough. So I’m happy for you all that the show about the gay hockey boys seems to have conclusively fixed that for everybody.

I always knew I’d be a great parent because I’ve never felt even a whisper of guilt over my own hypocrisy.

One thing I haven’t seen discussed is that Texas public schools heavily import teachers from Venezuela, and the recent immigration crackdown forced a lot to go back. So I wonder if an aspect of this is also about establishing a source of cheap labor entirely on US terms.

As a white woman raised in the upper middle class, I simply love to condescendingly scold working class military for not simply refusing orders, which I’m confident I would do if it were a situation I was ever in (which it never would be).

Maybe controversial to say, but I really love my baby and I think he’s super cute.

I‘m discontinuing my social media use for the foreseeable future and I want to explain why.

I woke up in the new year to discover that some guy on here had saved photos I took on New Year’s Eve and used Grok to remove my clothes. I know this because he showed me.

Notably missing from my feed: anyone at all from Venezuela.

I live with Boomers and when they first stumble out of their bedroom in the morning they DON’T already know every horrible thing that occurred around the globe over the previous 12 hours! Wild stuff, couldn’t be me.

there should be a "good morning" feed on bluesky where you're not immediately thrown headfirst into the worst news imaginable while you're still half asleep

My 4yo did an impression of me that was just her putting my sunglasses on and off busily and saying “I have to go somewhere!” and “I think you would like yogurt if you would just try it.”

I just realized something: babysitters are only for extroverts. Going out is exhausting to me, not refreshing, but I still need nights off. We need to normalize babysitters so parents can go hide in the guest room and read for a night.

One thing I can say for absolute sure about the coming year: I will not be having another baby during it.

My 4yo daughter barging into my room at 6:30 am and waking me and the baby from a sound sleep: “Mama! I want to go to a farm with REAL chickens!!!!”

Senior citizens love to say they have to go to the bathroom real quick and then vanish for over an hour.

The 4yo was really into Santa delivering presents on Christmas Eve; she was less thrilled when I told her that he’ll be returning tonight to pick them back up.

I don’t vibe with a lot of Texas culture but brisket for holiday meals instead of turkey (snore) or ham (blargh) is definitely the move.

Can’t believe my 4yo bought this Santa business, I guess she’ll just believe anything I tell her.

When you have a baby, you feel so inspired and powerful like you could do anything. But then all you can do is endlessly joggle a screaming baby 24/7 for months. This is nature’s way of keeping women from becoming corrupt.
