Thanks for approaching the subject so thoughtfully. I hadn't read the paper or looked into the researcher but my automatic response to the news of it was "about time someone took a swing at Prophecy" so I'm thankful there was another set of eyes I could see that paper through.

If you make it its own track after you slice it up you can "export multiple" and batch export them which will save you a little time

Dragging them into your daw?
I don't remember which one you use but in logic "flex" mode breaks up the stem by transients - or by individual notes but I think transients would be easier for this case - so you can clearly see the beginning attack of each sample
I'm not sure of an easier way to do it

It was a mix of terror and total hilarity. We were so aware of how insane this must have looked from the outside and how not normal it is to be walking down the street throwing up, but we couldn't think of any other option.

I didn't know someone could puke that much and to this day I've never seen that much puke. That was the first and only time I've been on drugs and thought "oh I get why someone might call the cops on themselves when they're on halucinogens"
