Day 11. I am excited about so much. I am starting an anthropological research of “The Village” in January, a study on high school government, a study on a new 6th grade civics political friendship focused curriculum, sitting on two panels, presenting at IALS, and teaching my first college class!

Day 10. I am fortunate enough to work in a k-12 environment that allows for participatory research!

Day 9. My first journal publication on individualized teacher evaluation. Not really my research interest but it was a solid article coauthored with our principal and two head teachers from England. Most collaboration was through zoom. I was fortunate enough to visit the English school.

Day 8. Challenges I’ve faced - overall the transition to administration, taking on expanded responsibilities while completing my PhD.

Day 7. I think everyone should read Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Can School Change Society, Ideology and Curriculum, Education and Power, Official Knowledge, Teaching to Transgress, My Pedagogic Creed, Democracy in Education, Democratic Schools

Day 6. I laughed when our conference was over. It was a relief. As amazing as hosting an international conference was (it was extremely successful) I was laughing in relief after it was over. I can’t wait to attend as a presenter in the spring. If anyone is in RI and wants to chat - let me know.

Day 5. I want other people to know that critical pedagogy is possible on an individual and systemic level. And those actionable changes are necessary for the betterment of society (local and global) and could have a ripple effect on broader societal structures. Words are powerful. Actions are too.

I’m going to attempt to catch up. My best conference experience was hosting the international association of laboratory schools (IALS) conference. So thankful for our team who put it together and students who played a critical role in the success of the conference.
