Thanks! I don't have an Ecobee but I'll keep a closer eye on my thermostat

Thanks. My system is a Moovair. I haven't noticed the thermostat show aux other than when I specifically put it on. So far it seems to be coping just as well as - possibly better than - my old forced air electric.

I'm not a hardware person so... I'm fairly certain mine is an inline electric element. And I've noticed various 'cycles' my heatpump goes through - seemingly depending on how hard it - and the fan - are working.

As someone in their first winter of heatpumping, in a very old airy house, is there any indication when the electric heat backup is kicking in? I know I can (and have) used the aux mode on occasion lately to force it to kick in. So other than sound...

Very similar to the powers they granted themselves in Bill C-5 - The Building Canada Act

Feels like we are on a slippery slope

I do that a lot for the cardinals, even in the house if I am crossing a window. The feeder is about 10m outside the kitchen door. So this time of year I have to prepare supper about 16:15 so the cardinals can eat theirs during dusk.

They could put their elbows up. And as has been noted, Trudeau et al tried to work with the Alberta NDP - bought them a pipeline. It got us no where.

How so? Carney is pushing more fossil fuel production and use. And weakening climate policy.

I'm not sure the left wing parties are much better.

That is one of the documented discourses of climate delay. But I guess you think we should do nothing because global peace hasn't be achieved. Oh and climate change is expected to exacerbate conflicts.

We also seem to 'pay' to subsidize oil sands with Investment Tax Credits for CCUS. Which can be used to increase production...
December 6, 2025 at 2:24 PM
And I would argue Carney is as well.
December 6, 2025 at 2:18 PM
So what level of emissions is everyone aiming for? What level of warming?
December 6, 2025 at 2:14 PM
I would say the same about the fossil fuel industry

I'm more skeptical that most Canadians are paying attention to the policy analysis :) And we also have to be aware of the post truth environment.

John did a far better job than Max did. Do you realize Max was touting 90Mt reduction from $130 effective price when clean prosperity said 70Mt. Alberta's 2023 emissions were 263.4Mt. And Smith weakened credit pricing the same day as this podcast ran. And a new pipeline will increase emissions
