This is not exactly the same but my son when he was five or six used to say things and then repeat them to himself in a whisper like ”yeah, I think that was a good thing to say” sort of mental processing mechanism and I don’t think he realized we could hear him but it was so funny and cute

To me this is an essential part of the parenting bargain - I will change your diapers, work through your public meltdowns, have my sleep disrupted for years, but I will listen to all of your cute private whispers
