I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

Excavation of the tomb of Akhet-Hetep at Giza revealed a monument to his mother Peseshet, the "Overseer of Women Physicians." She is the world's earliest known woman doctor, and practiced at the time of the building of the great pyramids in Egypt, about 2500 BC. #CelebratingWomen

Today we're looking at a 14th c. copy of a purported letter from Hippocrates to Caesar. It's a short collection of medical advice in prose, comprised of recipes followed by a guide to astronomical movements. Written in Middle French! (UPenn Ms. Codex 421) #medievalsky

Many schools in northern Poland, as well as in the capital Warsaw, have closed due to cold temperatures, which fell well below -20°C in some places.

Meanwhile, the Motława River in Gdańsk has frozen for the first time since 2011, leading many people to walk on the ice despite warnings it is unsafe.

Hey, so I have a book that now exists and that you can purchase (apparently the code BB135 on the boydell webpage will get you a 35% discount) or more realistically recommend to your library! 😅

(Please don't mind the fact that I'm like a month late promoting this here...)

A moment-by-moment analysis of video from the scene shows that Mr. Pretti was already restrained when fatal shots were fired, which appears to contradict the federal government’s account of the event.
