Personally one of my favorite bits of the episode was the idea that a good outcome is a progressive council & a mayor who will stay out of the way / not be an active barrier. This is how I voted this year, but it’s not a particularly strong selling point to rally voters behind! So who knows.

I think there are some places where the apartment knocks have worked very well, places where this has struggled, & places where the ‘other team’ has figured this out & started doing it with some success (Ward 7 this year in my experience)

Second: As much as I would love to live in a world where turning out more renters is the key to victory, I am curious how much more we can get out of that strategy / what it would take to continue to change turnout in a huge way with this group without activating even bigger backlash

I’m curious if folks just don’t know a lot about Hampton’s campaign, or if it’s being ignored a little in the discourse since he wasn’t seen as progressive enough - a view I can understand.

I think the idea that mayoral candidates need to earn votes across the city is a good one. The very first (pre-caucus) event I was personally invited to was a Hampton house party in Ward 13—a suggestion for candidates from the show.

*when I say more I do not mean entirely! I’m a bus rider who has ridden lots & lots of buses & has had homes in several parts of the city. This is my personal opinion!!

I think it could also have to do with how on the west side the 6 has different stops than the 4 b/c of how Hennepin & Lyndale split. If they would have kept it at Oak Grove the stop over there would have been completely eliminated - now at least something goes to more of the stops folks depend on

Yeah this is where I live & I’ve been essentially without my bus stop during construction - very excited! Lots of people do live right there

My rent went up in Lowry Hill and my landlord is changing lease term from month to month to a year - less flexible so not my preference

I’ve been a big Osman fan since meeting with him for the Hennepin Ave reconstruction in ‘22. As soon as I showed him the data about how many people in Ward 6 don’t have cars he was in. We don’t always agree, but he’s ~pragmatic~ & definitely in it for what‘s good for his ward
