I haven't read Imperial Radch 2-4, but TS was enjoyable stand-alone with one of protagonists using sie/hir neopronoun. there is quite a bit of alien horniness, but wholesome since the theme revolves around consent

it's hard to put in exact words, but basically we design build and deployment systems for subset of Netflix that uses ML. so I do use Scala at work, but I spend time more thinking about integration testing, instrumentation, packaging Java and Python, etc

so it's more of a pretzel/baguette type situation. not the NY/NJ traditional style, but more bagel than most bready bagels out there
