These are just two examples of a pattern of rule-breaking that undermines trust in EU policymaking. Environmental protections cannot be dismantled behind closed doors under a false sense of urgency ❌

✅ Phase out hidden fossil subsidies, keep carbon pricing predictable, and reward products with truly low lifecycle emissions.

✅ Boost green lead markets: incentives, public procurement, and support schemes should favour companies delivering climate-neutral, socially responsible products.

Europe cannot give up its leadership.

Now is the time to double down: reward frontrunners, phase out fossil laggards, and secure a socially fair, competitive path to climate-neutral, zero-pollution industry.

Recycling concrete cuts emissions, saves raw materials, avoids landfill waste, lowers costs and even produces lighter concrete. Circular construction isn’t just greener, it's the smarter choice for the industry.

Why continue mining when we can recycle millions of cars and steel scrap?

Steel scrap can be recycled using Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), which significantly reduces emissions by eliminating the need for carbon-intensive raw materials and consuming less energy than traditional steel production (DRI).

Clinker production, the main ingredient in cement, is the primary source of CO2 in cement manufacturing.

By replacing clinker with other materials like fly ash, slag, or other industrial byproducts, the need for this energy-intensive and carbon-releasing process is significantly decreased.

H2-DRI-EAF is a process for making low-carbon steel that uses hydrogen (H2) to produce Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), which is then melted in an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF).

This pathway is considered a promising method for significantly reducing the steel industry's carbon footprint.
