Toronto runner Mac Bauer (instagram.com/514runner) raced the Finch West LRT on foot yesterday - beat it by 18mins - 39mins of running time, 46mins w/ stops for lights. The LRT & passenger took 1 hour 4mins total. LRT was also 27mins slower than driving which took 37mins

Art Canada Institute shows an alt poster for the same commission from 1964, so going to assume around a similar timeframe www.aci-iac.ca/art-books/ar...

The Advertising & Design Club of Canada (ADCC) says they are from 1965 but logobook says the logo itself is from 1973... not sure which to believe theadcc.ca/search?searc... & logobook.com/logo/antique...

just picked up these great Arnaud Maggs posters on auction created for a long shuttered Toronto store called "Antiques & Things" from the 60s/70s

technical definitions are really important to ensure outcomes. The city can "turn on TSP" and say hey look, we did it and it's not working, much like transportation suggested in the article posted by OP - because their definition of TSP isn't what people are asking for
December 9, 2025 at 5:52 PM
this might seem like a non-distinction but Toronto's current definition of transit priority signalling (which is utilized city-wide at over 420 intersections) is quite literally only about extending a green time for a transit if they are approaching an intersection www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis...
December 9, 2025 at 5:40 PM
I think it's important to focus on whats being said - Jonathan English is advocating for a system that adapts and allows transit to override the vehicle cycle to not wait for left turns, reds, conflicting phases. The City's transportation department says "TSP is already utilized - we extend greens!"

one of the conversations that needs to be had about local groups popping up that claim to represent, deliver news to people or showcase the city is how they are in part benefiting from a vacuum of other kinds of local commentary and reporting - something extremely wrong with this imo

wondering if moise was successful in these remarks re:saving the sign or if it was just removed and dismantled immediately by the new owners www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Bernhardt's -

I'm trying not to be crazy, but Dovercourt was expanded to essentially allow something similar to Bernhardt's (on Dovercourt Rd) on every single residentially zoned property on that street, no? Like a cafe could open in the buildings next to Badiali's or whatever. That's my read of it...

The City made a weird post on the website formerly known as Twitter, reminding people that the subway ended at 1:30 despite the game and that the GO was about to be last train - becoming a thing for sure bsky.app/profile/josh...

Yeah Harbord is a "major street" but we should remember that zoning is a hodge podge of a variety of legal-non-conforming, grandfathered, conforming and non-conforming uses www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u... & page 9 here - the yellow would be the expanded areas of Harbord www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...
October 30, 2025 at 11:55 PM
seems like that's a lot of streets? www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...
October 30, 2025 at 10:54 PM
to be fair there is a large number of "major streets" (photo) that currently have huge swaths of areas that preclude retail permissions, so while I'm super disappointed to see these councillors strike the interior neighbourhood aspect, it could still be a substantial change in our very large city

Doug Ford wants to end security of tenure - Allowing landlords to evict people at will "lease... expiry that could allow landlords to control who occupies their units and for how long, allowing them to adjust tenancy arrangements based on market conditions, personal needs, or business strategies"

this is all over ontario lol my partner is a makeup artist and sometimes has to do overnights in smaller towns, always multiple hundreds of dollars for a stay - it's a canada thing generally. Anyway try the new "Sonder" building King St East. www.marriott.com/search/avail...
