Gas consumption for heating increased an estimated 5.5%. The increase was due to colder weather, but controlling for weather variations, there has been no progress in reducing emissions from gas-fired heating for the past three years, after Russia's gas freeze led to reductions in 2021-22.

China’s electric truck sales just tripled to ~230k units. ~20% of all heavy trucks sold are now electric. This isn’t hitting diesel anymore — it’s hitting gas. Freight is pure economics & electric is already cheaper. When trucks flip, fuel demand collapses fast. This is the real demand destruction.

There are many more land-efficient ways to produce #energy than growing #biofuels. Crops convert less than 1% of sunlight into biomass; #solarpanels convert around 20%. And using #electricity is more efficient than using liquid fuels: hannahritchie.substack.com/p/biofuels-v... #landuse #biomass
