I love painting and playing Warhammer. Horus Heresy, Fantasy Battles, MESBG, Kill Team, Aeronautica, Necromunda, 40K. He/Him/They. Warhammer is for Everyone. Backdrop books used in my model photos are from Handiwork Games.
The night ended with some absolute carnage - a four way Mordheim battle royale, set on a huge 6' x 4' ruined city, with loads of random events going off and death and destruction around every corner. What a day!

Mordheim weekend begins! My first game was an ignominious defeat - my ninja master fell out of a window and was immediately captured... hoping for better dice in Game 2!

This was my most recent attempt to completely cover a piece of furniture with Krieg... will be doing another update photo soon!

I noticed I was getting dangerously low on Death Korps of Krieg, so it was time for a resupply mission. This will be enough to see me through till June 2026, finishing 8th Platoon and completing about half of the 303rd Siege Artillery.

I can't wait, it's going to be a great weekend! I'm taking the Order of the Shadow Blossom (Dark Elf rules)

I've painted up two sets of Garden of Morr terrain for an overnight Mordheim weekend. Got super lucky - my cheap Agrax substitute, made up with cheap brown watercolour paints and water - ended up leaving a nice dusty residue effect after the dip shade. Really happy with the overall effect.

Once again proof that @tomjmegan.bsky.social gives excellent advice. The General's Compendium once again coming in extremely useful, thank you for the recommendation!

I've had an idea... an Empire Galleon! Got a trip to visit the Mary Rose in Portsmouth soon, that seems like the perfect opportunity to do some research.

The Phesian Bombardiers make extensive use of Tarantula sentry guns, designed to allow them to operate their artillery batteries much further forward, protected from enemy scouts by the powerful Osiris frag missiles.

Today I'm starting work on Box Number 55 of Krieg troopers, which will become the 7th Platoon's 5th Squad. I'm closing in on another army update photo...

One of my favourite things about them is they're a nice simple army to play. No magic to remember, and also you can fit a whole 2,000pt army into a single tray.

The Thin Red (and Green) Line
November 21, 2025 at 10:05 AM
Thank you! I really love both these armies. Single ranks of ten are definitely the sensible way to go, I picked two ranks purely for aesthetic reasons, it makes a slightly denser firing line that I think looks better on the battlefield. But you're right, it does limit their firepower.

The Daemon Slayer, Alarik Sunhammer, was an absolute maniac and broke two units before the General charged him and managed to put paid to his rampage.
November 21, 2025 at 9:15 AM
The two Generals faced off against one another. My Baron had previously killed the Daemon Slayer with a single blow of his mighty hammer, so was perhaps a bit over confident - the king made short work of him!

Had a great game of Old World yesterday, my Hochland army took on the Dwarves. My long rifles picked off the battle standard bearer, but I just couldn't break past their artillery into the flanks, and the tough infantry managed to batter their way to my gunline, sending my army fleeing.

The Phesian Bombardiers cohort of the Solar Auxilia make extensive use of Rapier batteries, providing the firepower needed to defend their numerous artillery emplacements. This is a quad heavy bolter, one of the preferred weapons used to suppress flanking infantry and light vehicles.

Sihathor the Last is a character I created in 2018 as a time-travelling nemesis for a 40K campaign against my brother's Space Wolves, just as I was getting back into 40K. Since then he's appeared in the Heresy settings too - this is one of the first models I painted after a ten year break.

The game was full of heroic last stands like this one, from the gunners of Artillery Regiment No. 24, the Duke of Munshaven's own. Each unit has a regimental trait - for the 24th, if they die they get to make one last point blank attack, which inflicted two wounds on the Warboss.

This is what you call Apraxian discipline. If my models stay in base contact they gain +1 BS and +1 Ld. "By the right, right wheel!"
November 18, 2025 at 8:08 AM
I kept the company standard alive right to the end and he was the last man standing (if he dies, the whole company has to take a Panic check). He passed his Ld after losing the combat on a double 1, anything else would have been a failure. Medals for that man!

Despite the cat's best efforts, we did manage to play a Horus Heresy game last night, Orks Vs Imperialis Militia. The Orks score a decisive win, but the Apraxian Fusiliers had some great moments and earned much honour in the Crown Prince's name.

Ok, you can sit quietly at the back and direct the artillery fire
November 17, 2025 at 7:39 PM
We've reached a compromise, she's found a warm radiator to sit on and observe proceedings.

She certainly is an agent of Chaos...
