Bluesky post from me in reply to another user: Your insurance company discriminates against fat people even though BMI is a bullshit statistic that does not correlate with health in the vast majority of people. And it's literally contraindicated for people with some medical conditions, like Post-Exertional Malaise, to work out. Cool cool cool. The third horror was Esme—or at least she was to one of the five children we encountered on our apparently-too-early walk around the neighborhood. The toddler was crying "No, daddy, no dog." His sister, also a toddler, was more pleased to see Esme.

To be fair, it was horrifying to her that I took her away from her dinner to try to get her costume photos.

And she decided costume or no she was going to finish her food. But the second horror was that her wings got in the way of accessing her food.

At the end of August, Esme turned 5.

Bella was not thrilled about going for her nail trim and teeth brushing today but she did get a cute bow out of it from her groomer because it's her birthday.

She also had no intentions of sticking around and marched us right out of the store afterward.

TBH a lot of dispensationalism reads like a sort of "told you so"/revenge scenario toward Jews for initially "rejecting" Christ.

If you're unfamiliar with FDR's Fireside Chats, they were a strategic program of communicating his decisions and principles directly to the public.

He used the radio for that for a specific reason.
It cannot misrepresent or misquote. It is far-reaching and simultaneous in releasing messages given for transmission to the nation or for international consumption. — Stephen Early, Roosevelt's press secretary, on the value of radio Roosevelt believed that his administration's success depended upon a favorable dialogue with the electorate, possible only through methods of mass communication, and that it would allow him to take the initiative. The use of radio for direct appeals was perhaps the most important of Roosevelt's innovations in political communication.  Roosevelt's opponents had control of most newspapers in the 1930s and press reports were under their control and involved their editorial commentary. Historian Betty Houchin Winfield says, "He and his advisers worried that newspapers' biases would affect the news columns and rightly so." Historian Douglas B. Craig says that Roosevelt "offered voters a chance to receive information unadulterated by newspaper proprietors' bias" through the new medium of radio.
