Our office’s annual Toy Drive is BACK! Starting tomorrow, December 8, through Friday, we’re collecting new, unwrapped toys for kids ages 3 months–17 years old. Every donation helps brighten the season for families in need, with all toys delivered to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen in Chelsea.

The Sanitation Foundation is now accepting applications for NYC Trash Academy 2026! This free 8-week online + in-person program dives into how NYC manages waste, food scraps, clothes, electronics, and how communities can cut trash. Runs January 27–March 18. Limited spots! Apply by January 12.

Thank you to Andra for sharing this neighborhood treasure. As someone committed to a healthier planet, I’m proud our district has planted nearly 1,000 new street trees, expanded tree beds, launched Green in Between, piloted potted trees, and passed NYC’s first Urban Forest Master Plan.

Christmas came early at our district office! We were honored to receive a remarkable relic from the past from Andra Gabrielle — an original 1959 letter from the West 22nd Street Tree Planting Committee. It tells the story of neighbors fundraising to plant 23 London Plane trees. 🌳

🎗️ Tonight, the @uft.org and @prideuft will host their World AIDS Day Memorial Tribute, a meaningful annual gathering to honor those lost to AIDS-related complications and to uplift survivors.

The event begins with a reflection at the NYC AIDS Memorial, followed by a memorial service at PS 041
