Parliament has also tasked the @ec.europa.eu with a ‘simplification review’ of the law next year; this could trigger even more uncertainty.

The #EUDR is too important to be carved up and picked apart. The Commission must withdraw its proposal and implement the law on time.

Our latest report, Risky Business, shows just why the EUDR is urgently needed: wood from some of the worst examples of deforestation in Borneo has been imported into the EU.

The EUDR would ban this and finally limit the EU’s complicity in the destruction of precious tropical forests.

EU consumption of Indonesian wood should not harm the people who live there.

This isn’t the only option: if enforced properly, the #EUDR would ban imports of deforestation wood into the EU.

Risky Business highlights why the law shouldn’t be weakened in any way. www.earthsight.org.uk/risky-business

🦧 The Bornean orangutan is on the verge of extinction. If current development continues, it could lose half its remaining range.

As the #EUDR faces attempts to weaken and delay the law, our findings are a stark reminder of what’s at stake.

FSC members MUST reject Motion 45 at this week’s General Assembly, which would remove a strict limit on the amount of Intact Forest Landscapes that FSC-certified firms can degrade through logging.

✅A vote at next week’s FSC General Assembly could help fix this by introducing mandatory traceability in FSC supply chains

If FSC cannot fix fraud, it risks losing what little credibility remains

Investigations like these show European consumers are exposed to tainted beef and leather imports from Brazil.

Until the #EUDR is in place, flows of cattle products from illegal ranches can continue unabated.

There's no time for delay: policymakers need to enforce the law now.

These aren't isolated cases. ⚠️

In June, our investigation found cattle from illegal ranches inside the Apyterewa Indigenous Territory in Pará were bought by Frigol, another of Brazil's largest meatpackers that produces hides exported to the EU. www.earthsight.org.uk/news/hidden-price-luxury

⚠️The EUDR could help keep products fuelling the destruction of the Amazon and Indigenous rights violations off European shelves.

Policymakers must stand firm and enforce the law with no further delays or changes. ✊
